A man was charged Tuesday with using a golf club to attack a man in Oakridge and ? two days later ? using a note to rob a bank in Eugene.
Jeremie Weslie Skordahl, a 33-year-old Eugene resident, was arraigned in Lane County Circuit Court on charges of first-degree assault and second degree robbery in connection with the separate criminal cases.
Eugene police arrested Skordahl on Monday afternoon, about four hours after a robbery at the U.S. Bank branch inside an Albertsons supermarket at 311 Coburg Road.
The arrest was made after a resident of the Harlow Road area called police to report that a suspicious person had run through a backyard.
Officers arrived in the area and found Skordahl covered in mud. They realized that he matched the description of the man who had robbed the bank earlier in the day, police said.
Oakridge police, meanwhile, had been looking for Skordahl since Saturday, when he allegedly entered a home and beat an acquaintance with a golf club, Oakridge Police Chief Dale Scobert said.
The victim in that case needed approximately 40 staples to close a head wound, Sco?bert said.
It was not clear why Skordahl had allegedly attacked the man, Sco?bert said.
Skordahl, who is on parole following a burglary conviction in 2010, is being held in the Lane County Jail.
