Legacy of the Dragon Soul

Legacy of the Dragon Soul

When a legend of 9 dragons vanishes from history, the world begins to fall into a state of chaos. Now, the only way to restore order is in the hands of destined individuals chosen to finish what the dragons of old could not.

Spent a long time setting this up and really hope it takes off. But if nothing still happens to this RP as well, then I think it'll be a sign of me giving up on wasting my time on creating these stories. Well let's not get all negative about it. Let us see if this "legend" might get a nice take off after all.

This looks great! I love epic storylines. Can I reserve the Light Dragon Soul wielder please? As far as an image goes are you okay with anime or real images?

Edit: Also, I know the Light and Dark tribes knew about the legends, but are the two sole survivors aware that they are the wielders?

"Greeting fellow Earthlings, my compliments to you Oblivion for make such an intresting RP. I would like to reserve the Lightning Dragon Soul Weilder if possible?"

(That's my british accent with just a pinch of an Unknown alien language right there, and I know it is terrible so please don't be judgemental...)

I was born to fight for those I love
To see them safe and happy
To protect them from harm
And to keep the darkness at bay
To slay those who dare harm mine
To defeat the monsters that rove my lands
And to shield them from the darkness... that hides inside me...

Wow! That was fast XD ok I'll answer in order XP

@Zodia: Sure Light will be Reserved. and they know of the legend and I'm pretty sure they will know that they are Wielders, since I might have forgotten to concentrate on the fact that the Wielders have a Dragon like mark on a part of their body. I'll add that info and how the mark looks and add to the character sheet the part to explain where the mark is on them. Also for pic I prefer anime style since this RP is kind of inspired by anime stories so there will be "anime like" moments in there XD

@Blue WInd: Sure thing Lightning it is mist "visitor".

@Mathew: Ice yes sure..man I feel like a butler taking orders haha

One other thing, will these chars have actual dragon forms? Or do they simply carry their powers. I need to look at that char guide again lol. Also, will there eventually be a Chaos dragon wielder or because of the seal, there never was someone who could inherit the Chaos dragon's powers?

User avatar

@X64: Alright Fire it is, and thanks for the compliment haha

@Zodia: No transforming into Dragons, but later on, as they learn to use it, they will gain something SIMILAR to it. That's all I'm going to say. I hate ruining surprises I plan out XP
And as for the Chaos Dragon, there wont be a Wielder for him since, well that dragon never died, unlike the others, so no Soul to pass to another. At least not in THIS chapter of the story haha No the enemy is well planned and will involved that dragon, but no wielder for him.

New life for decades-old Wis. cheddar blocks

MILWAUKEE (AP) ? A recently discovered block of eastern Wisconsin cheddar cheese that dates back to the Nixon presidency will be sold for $10 per ounce.

Edward Zahn, 73, was in Z's Cheese Shoppe's walk-in cooler last month, preparing to shut down his Oconto store. He pushed aside stacks of cheese to reveal several wooden boxes that had been overlooked for years.

Inside were blocks of unintentionally aged cheddar ? 28, 34 and 40 years old ? that, some experts say, might comprise the oldest collection of cheese ever assembled and sold to the public.

"It just got overlooked," Zahn told the Wisconsin State Journal of the 40-year-old cheese. "It looks just like the others except it's just a lot sharper. It's got character."

Ken McNulty, who owns the Wisconsin Cheese Mart in Milwaukee, bought about 20 pounds of the 40-year-old cheddar and 120 pounds of 34-year cheddar. He declined to reveal the price he paid.

Cheese is often sold by the pound, but McNulty plans to sell the oldest cheese by the ounce so more people can get a taste.

"Because there's so little, we didn't want to sell blocks of it on the Web," he told The Associated Press. "We just wanted people to sample it."

He said an ounce would be just enough for two people to nibble on. He suggests sampling the vintage cheese by itself, not with a cracker or other food that would compete with the flavor.

He said he found out about the cheese when Zahn's son called, told him his father was closing up shop and offered to sell some inventory. McNulty, long a fan of Zahn's cheesemaking expertise, said he wanted everything.

McNulty sampled the 40-year-old and 28-year-old blocks, pleasantly surprised that the milk in the cheese hadn't soured. He still hasn't tried the 34-year-old cheese, and acknowledges that he can't assume it will be edible. He plans to cut it open on Oct. 6 as part of a cheese-tasting event at his store.

Wisconsin, the nation's leading cheese producer, last made headlines for aged cheese in 2010 when Tony Hook, the co-owner of Hook's Cheese Co. in Mineral Point, sold 1,600 pounds of 15-year-old cheese for $50 per pound. Cheese connoisseurs described that cheddar as mature, rich, smooth and decadent.

So what does cheddar taste like when it's been sitting around since 1972, the year "The Godfather" was released and when gas was 55 cents per gallon?

"If you get a piece close to the outside, it's all crystallization, so it's crunchy like Corn Flakes," McNulty said. "As you get closer to the interior, it's creamier and overwhelmingly sharp."

Texas girl, 13, describes alleged sexual assaults

This undated booking photo provided by the Liberty County Sheriff's Department in Liberty, Texas, shows Eric McGowen. (AP) ? A 13-year-old Texas girl who authorities say was repeatedly sexually assaulted by 20 men and boys during a series of attacks two years ago cried Wednesday as a video of one of the encounters was played for jurors in the first case to go to trial.

The girl, testifying under a pseudonym, told jurors about two incidents, one in October 2010 and one the next month, in which 20-year-old defendant Eric McGowen and several other men and boys took turns having sex with her while recording the encounters on video.

McGowen, one of 14 adults accused of having sex with the girl during a nearly three-month span, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and faces up to life in prison if convicted.

The girl briefly broke down in tears as jurors were shown a few minutes of video of an alleged October 2010 sexual assault in a house in Cleveland, a small southeast Texas town where she and the defendants lived.

The girl, who was 11 at the time, said she was brought into what she described as the "baby room" in the house, and that McGowen and others took turns having sex with her. She said the video, which several jurors turned away from, was of her being assaulted by another man charged in the case.

"Did the guys just take turns with you?" prosecutor Joe Warren asked.

"Yes sir," the girl said.

The girl seemed calm for most of the roughly 1? hours she testified. She mostly gave short answers to questions, often pausing to stare at the floor or ceiling of the Liberty courtroom before responding.

She described another alleged rape that November that started in a different Cleveland home the defendants called the "boom boom" room, according to prosecutors, and that continued later at a nearby abandoned trailer.

Asked by Warren if more than 20 males might have assaulted her that day, the girl responded, "Probably."

She also told jurors that McGowen used a beer bottle on her during that incident.

Jurors were later shown police photos of used condoms and condom wrappers found inside and outside the house in the November incident.

McGowen's attorney, Matthew Poston, questioned the girl for about six minutes, during which he asked whether she twice told police early in the investigation that she never had sex with McGowen. The girl said she didn't remember saying that.

Prosecutors say the girl was assaulted on at least five occasions from mid-September through early December of 2010.

Eight of the 20 defendants accused in the case have pleaded guilty, including all six juveniles. A gag order has prevented prosecutors and defense attorneys from commenting.

Authorities began investigating that December after one of the girl's friends told a teacher he watched a cellphone video of her being raped in an abandoned trailer.

The case sparked outrage in Cleveland, a community of roughly 9,000 residents 45 miles northeast of Houston. Early in the investigation, some residents suggested the girl was partly responsible because they say she wore makeup, looked older than her age and wasn't properly supervised by her parents, drawing widespread condemnation.

The case also has been complicated by a belief among many in the predominantly black neighborhood where several of the suspects live that the arrests were racially motivated. All of the suspects are black, while the girl is Hispanic.

During opening statements Wednesday, Warren told jurors he would present them with videotaped and written confessions in which McGowen admitted to raping the girl.

"What took place to this girl was nothing better than a pack of animals attacking," Warren said.

On Tuesday, Poston tried but failed to get the confessions thrown out, arguing that police improperly questioned McGowen.

During his opening statement, Poston told jurors that the video evidence in the case doesn't show McGowen having sex with the girl.

"The truth in this case is not always what it seems," he said.

One of the two adults who pleaded guilty in the case received a 15-year prison term and the other is awaiting sentencing. The six juveniles each received 7-year prison terms that were suspended, putting them on probation for that amount of time.

Most of the adult defendants in the case face charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, while four face a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child.

WATCHING THE SHOW: Mitt Romney, trying to connect

Graphic shows APGfK poll results on presidential candidate favorability

(AP) ? If the presidential election were held today, Romney and Obama would be more or less tied, the latest polls show. But on one voter test, Obama has a clear advantage:

Whom would you rather have a beer with?

Or, if you don't drink (as Romney doesn't), whom would you rather have a cup of coffee with? Or take with you on a road trip (with or without your dog)? Or invite over for dinner?

Simply put, there is a likability gap.

This may seem trivial compared to questions like, say, which candidate you think will better revive the economy or safeguard the nation's nuclear weapons. But election after election has demonstrated that how voters feel about their candidate matters. A lot. It buoyed Ronald Reagan and helped sink John Kerry.

Likability has become a political buzzword that stands for something deeper. More like affinity. Empathy. How well does he or she connect? How much does he understand people like me?

There are Republicans who think this will be the deciding issue for Mitt Romney. He has about as good a playing field as a challenger could hope for, yet has not broken past the president. The election, they believe, may well turn on whether Romney can use this week's convention and the fall debates to really connect with voters in a way he has not yet been able to.

Democrats see this as Obama's core asset. Even in these hard times, voters feel he gets their plight better than the rich guy does. Asked which candidate better understands the problems of people like you, Obama beats Romney among registered voters 51 to 36 percent in the latest AP/GfK poll. Some 53 percent of adults hold a "favorable" opinion of the president, compared with just 44 percent who view Romney favorably.

And that is a president who isn't actually all that touchy-feely himself, having at times been compared to the "Star Trek" alien Mr. Spock, who suppressed emotion in order to solve problems. In fact, Obama's personal ratings are lower than most presidential candidates in recent elections, notes polltaker Andrew Kohut. They are just better than Romney's.

That is Romney's challenge.

___

CAN HE persuade voters to feel comfortable enough with him to turn out Obama? Not just to agree with him on issues but to trust him with their futures? That is why likability is about a lot more than having a beer.

It is about addressing what The Economist, a business-oriented British newsmagazine, editorialized as their "main doubt" about Romney: "Nobody knows who this strange man really is."

One striking element of this long campaign is how little Romney did over years of campaigning to really introduce himself, apparently not wanting to distract from discussion of the weak economy.

But Romney and his campaign were on course to use this convention to "warm up" his image. The candidate and his wife, Ann, sat down with Fox News at their home in New Hampshire the other day.

The correspondent, Chris Wallace, shared their pancakes as Ann described how Mitt had ironed his own shirt just that morning. "I noticed he was doing the laundry last night," she disclosed.

For his part, Romney did what he could to address the issue: "Remember that Popeye line, 'I am what I am and that's all what I am.'" What voters really want, he says, is effective management of the economy and for that he is your man.

In another interview, published by Politico on Monday, Romney acknowledged his likability problem but blamed it on the waves of attack ads Obama and his allies have launched against him (although his personal ratings were low even before the barrage).

He tried to turn the issue around on Obama, calling him a nice guy but a failed president.

In other words, American public, you liked Obama as a candidate but are disappointed in him as a president, while I, Romney, may be disappointing as your candidate but will deliver as your president.

Jon Stewart scoffed when George W. Bush (at that point a teetotaler) was described as a guy you'd love to have a beer with. I don't want a president I can have a beer with, Stewart said, "I want my president to be the designated driver." Given the highway pileup the American economy has just been through, Stewart's quip isn't all that far from Romney's campaign argument.

But can likability or affinity be separated from issues and effectiveness? That is becoming one of the principal questions of this campaign.

The question is sometimes posed as if managing the economy, on which Romney scores better, is different from the personal qualities that Obama scores better on. Some Republicans argue that Obama's personal ratings are all that keep him afloat amid the economic wreckage.

But that misses the point, says one Democratic consultant. Those personal qualities may actually be a way some voters connect politics to their economic facts of life.

"If you are part of the working class and you believe that the deck has been stacked against people like you for a decade or so," this consultant said, "who is likely to be the more 'desirable' remedy for that ? the financial CEO who 'understands' the economy or the guy you think is fighting for people like you?"

Which is why fighting for you is an Obama campaign mantra.

___

IN TRYING to overcome this, Romney is banging into a pretty deep vein of American political feeling. Ever since Andrew Jackson let his supporters traipse mud through the White House, there has been a resistance to letting the patricians back in power.

It took a huge economic crisis for Americans to elect the Hudson valley gentryman, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Herbert Hoover in fact was a good man, just a failed president, which is exactly what Romney is trying to say about Obama.

Romney's team has been planning to use the convention to highlight Obama's failure, as they see it, without denying the president's likability ? and their own candidate's competence, as they see it, while acknowledging the need to humanize him.

This highlights the risk they have taken by waiting until so late in the campaign to try to personalize the candidate. Because Hurricane Isaac has intervened, in more ways than one.

On the obvious level, it has disrupted and overshadowed the convention so far. It has created a conversation about the last Republican administration's handling of a natural disaster when Romney would like to talk about the present Democratic administration's handling of the economy.

But as if to confirm that he is what he is (to channel Popeye again), the hurricane has created the kind of test for Romney that campaigns so often throw at candidates, a sudden change of terrain when the campaign was in the middle of doing something else.

These moments can be opportunities. What better chance to project empathy and connection than a looming threat to life and property? And Romney, Ann at his side, seemed to start out that way. The couple's thoughts, he said, were with the people in the storm's path, and he expressed hope that "they're spared any major destruction."

A more empathic politician might have left it at that, as his running mate, Paul Ryan, did. But Romney kept going, effusive about the convention and how it would go on despite the storm.

"I like my speech. I really like Ann's speech," he said. "Our sons are already in Tampa, and they say it's terrific there ? a lot of great friends. And we're looking forward to a great convention."

Which, if his ear for connecting with people is as tin as it seems to be there, might be somewhat less likely than he hopes.

S. Korea on alert as major typhoon Bolaven nears

South Korea was Monday bracing for major typhoon Bolaven, with a main port and ferry routes closed, classes cancelled, a military exercise suspended and officials put on high alert.

Typhoon Bolaven -- one of the region's most powerful storms in decades -- was churning towards the peninsula after lashing Japan's Okinawa island with heavy rain and wind, knocking out power, and injuring at least five people.

One man died on Japan's nearby island of Amami, Kagoshima prefecture, after being swept away by a swollen river, the Kyodo news agency reported.

The typhoon, with winds of up to 173 kilometres (107 miles) per hour, was expected to hit South Korea from late Monday to early Wednesday before reaching North Korea, Seoul's weather service said.

A joint military exercise with the US has been suspended until weather conditions improve, the Combined Forces Command said in a statement, according to the Yonhap news agency.

South Korea's defence ministry earlier said personnel in the path of the typhoon had been ordered to take shelter and move planes and ships to safer areas.

In the southern port city of Busan authorities Monday banned all ships from entering the docks until the storm passes. Large ships were advised to move elsewhere out of the storm's path.

The transportation ministry said 68 of the country's 87 sea ferry routes had been cancelled. Airport authorities were checking runways and other facilities.

A state disaster relief board raised its alert to the highest level, meaning more officials will be on watch.

Some 140 flights on Monday and Tuesday, mostly to or from the southern resort island of Jeju, were cancelled.

President Lee Myung-Bak called for "thorough preparation" to minimise damage and prevent casualties.

In Seoul and the western port city of Incheon, all schools were ordered closed Tuesday.

The typhoon will dump as much as 500 millimetres (20 inches) of rain in some parts of the nation from Monday to Wednesday and bring strong winds and high tides, the weather service said.

Storm alerts will be issued in most parts of the country by Monday night.

Porter's Five Makes Model Along with Internet Competition

According to Porter's 5 Forces Product, in my opinion, competitors has increased overall as a result of the world wide web and foro comercio electronico . The world wide web and IT has made it feasible to both focus on the bottom and top lines and market share is actually expanded and charges are cut. Many products exist merely online, significant companies have gone online to ensure that you augment the brick and mortar companies, and the playing field is all how you can edges of cyberspace, where ever that is. We'll further consider this treading through almost all five forces.

Buyer energy is higher when consumers have more options. Businesses are made to add value to many and providers to get devotion. Many respect programs contain excellent companies that consumers demand on-line. Clients want to remedy their problems and many instances they are more productive on-line than on-phone. Furthermore, we see world wide web savvy organizations springing up offering worth more goods and services from lower costs. Now with the advent of auction web sites, many people are if roles because drop shippers. Men and women can have a successful business promoting goods associated with larger businesses without having to hold inventory.

ecommerce_forum_paris_2.jpg

Company power will be higher while buyers have got fewer options from to whom to buy. As mentioned previously, drop shipping has increased the amount of vendors available. Most an individual has to complete is type and contract to sell products for the firm. The company covers all the strategies. The same is true associated with associates applications that Amazon online marketplace.com and Google.net offer. Associates allow any webmaster to earn money by recommending products coming from others. This specific increases supplier offerings.

Danger of replacement products or services will be high when there are many item alternatives. That is different than obtaining many providers. Examples of alternatives are changing brand names, replacing credit card features, and looking in better ideals from cheaper sources. The internet allows this with the "global economy". I will substitute my personal product by ordering from businesses overseas wherever labor, products are cheaper, however of comparable quality.

Threat of new newcomers is high when it is feasible for new opposition to enter industry. Well, exactly what have we been talking about? Today, small operations can open up shop with less than $10.00 per month making a lot of money. Because inventive since people are, there are always opportunities to carry out improve products or services or just develop and sell new things. Recently, many new entrants have made a lot more money authoring Ebooks which tell other folks how to perform what they does. Rivalry between competitors can be high while competition is much more intense inside of industries.

On-line booksellers and list companies are usually an excellent instance. Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.internet are very competing. However, there are numerous also scaled-down niche internet marketer bookstores that after combined have a great deal of market share. They offer much more competition. Nonetheless, both significant bookstores have used IT to make value for his or her customers. These types of values incorporate associates packages, ease of repayment and transport and many, many more.

The internet delivers avenues of competition to existing firms and chances for begin ups. Now businesses can easily enter the industry on-line with number of barriers to entry. Porter's Several Forces Model can help show the attractiveness of starting your current on-line business. A company person ought to use the product to identify competition, make a program, and put into action the process.

Paul says his backers will 'become the GOP tent'

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Rep. Ron Paul, the plucky GOP presidential candidate yet to get fully behind Mitt Romney, lashed out Sunday at Republican efforts to marginalize his supporters at the upcoming party convention, telling a counter rally to stand firm because "we will become the tent eventually."

Appearing not far from where Romney will collect the Republican nomination, Paul used the rally to lecture a party he thinks is too willing to intervene abroad, too timid when it comes to combating a monetary policy he sees as misguided, and too lax about preserving civil liberties. His remarks were the perfect pitch to a friendly crowd of thousands, who stood the whole time he spoke.

"It made the paper in Washington that the revolution wasn't happening," the Texas Republican said. "Don't they only wish."

Paul ended active campaigning in June, but so far the libertarian-leaning politician hasn't endorsed Romney's candidacy. He told The New York Times for a story Sunday that he was denied a chance to speak because he refused to let the Romney campaign vet his remarks and give an unconditional endorsement.

In contrast to the stately scenery inside the Republican convention arena, the Paul rally had all the trappings of a rock concert: fog lamps, sweeping beams of colorful lights, music thumping with bass, free-flowing tap beer. Blues Traveler frontman John Popper performed ahead of Paul's remarks.

The University of South Florida college basketball arena was hardly full, but boisterous Paul fans erupted most times he was mentioned and wore shirts with his name and image; one shirt read "My President is Paul" and another said "Let Ron Paul Speak."

Paul joked that he was given a speaking slot on Monday night ? when Tropical Storm Isaac was causing the GOP to postpone activities. "Just kidding," he assured.

He didn't win a single state but still amassed more than 175 delegates to the convention, several of whom got a standing ovation when they were introduced as a group at the Paul rally. On stage and among the audience, Paul backers chafed at the idea that their presence in Florida was an unwanted distraction at a convention focused on saluting Romney.

Paul's coalition is made up of anti-war Republicans, people who want stricter government adherence to the Constitution and those who want to dismantle the Federal Reserve, which sets American monetary policy.

His devoted following has caused strains in the convention lead-up. Late last week, Republican convention rule-makers advanced measures designed to blunt the Paul presence, including votes to dull the strength of his contingent in the Maine delegation and another to make it tougher for similar candidates to follow his path in the future.

Ashley Ryan, the young new Republican committeewoman from Maine, said procedural moves viewed as minimizing Paul's supporters would backfire on the GOP.

"Our party will go from being a big tent with many ideas to a small group at the mercy of a few insiders," Ryan said.

Paul carried on with the theme. ""Believe me, we will get in the tent because we will become the tent eventually," he said, adding, "With the energy that we have. It seems to me they would be begging and pleading for us to come into the party."

Tropical Storm Isaac disrupted the GOP schedule, yet planners retained a video tribute to Paul and a speaking role for his son, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, moving both to Wednesday night between 7 and 8 p.m.

Doug Wead, an author and former adviser to both Bush presidents, drew loud applause when he described the congressman as "a clean boat in a sea of garbage." Throughout the day, Paul was held up as a beacon of ideological purity.

Paul, 77, is leaving Congress after his 12th term expires at year's end. But some hope he'll make a fourth run at the White House. He has run the past two election cycles as a Republican and ran once before as a candidate for the Libertarian Party.

Said Austrian School economist Walter Block: "It's true Ron will be 80 in 2016, but he's a young 80."

At one point during the five-hour rally, the audience broke into chants of "Paul '16" ? but they were referring to Rand Paul, not his father.

Free Cloud Service Accounting Software Giving Quickbooks A Run For Their Money

cloud accounting

Quickbooks has been the leader in business accounting software for quite some time. In the past few years, this business accounting authority has turned to cloud services to host their accounting program online, thus allowing users the ability to do their accounting anytime, from anywhere in the world. Free Business Accounting through Cloud Services?

Like Quickbooks, most cloud service accounting software has some sort of monthly service fee that ranges from $30 to over $100 per month. However, there are now new age cloud service accounting companies who offer 100 percent free accounting programs. Norway's Breivik deemed sane, sentenced to prison

OSLO, Norway (AP) ? A Norwegian court sentenced Anders Behring Breivik to prison on Friday, denying prosecutors the insanity ruling they hoped would show that his massacre of 77 people was the work of a madman, not part of an anti-Muslim crusade.

Breivik smiled with apparent satisfaction when Judge Wenche Elisabeth Arntzen read the ruling, declaring him sane enough to be held criminally responsible and sentencing him to "preventive detention," which means it is unlikely he will ever be released.

The sentence brings a form of closure to Norway, which was shaken to its core by the bomb and gun attacks on July 22, 2011, because Breivik's lawyers said before the ruling that he would not appeal any ruling that did not declare him insane.

But it also means Breivik got what he wanted: a ruling that paints him as a political terrorist instead of a psychotic mass murderer. Since his arrest, Breivik has said the attacks were meant to draw attention to his extreme right-wing ideology and to inspire a multi-decade uprising by "militant nationalists" across Europe.

Prosecutors had argued Breivik was insane as he plotted his attacks to draw attention to a rambling "manifesto" that blamed Muslim immigration for the disintegration of European society.

Breivik argued that authorities were trying to cast him as sick to cast doubt on his political views, and said during the trial that being sent to an insane asylum would be the worst thing that could happen to him.

"He has always seen himself as sane so he isn't surprised by the ruling," Breivik's defense lawyer Geir Lippestad said.

The five-judge panel in the Oslo district court unanimously convicted Breivik, 33, of terrorism and premeditated murder and ordered him imprisoned for a period between 10 and 21 years, the maximum allowed under Norwegian law. Such sentences can be extended as long as an inmate is considered too dangerous to be released, and legal experts say Breivik will almost certainly spend the rest of his life in prison.

Some far right leaders argued that Friday's verdict played into their core beliefs, though they have spoken out against his violent rampage.

"It was obviously wrong what he did, but there was logic to all of it," said Stephen Lennon, the 29-year-old leader of the English Defense League. "By saying that he was sane, it gives a certain credibility to what he had been saying. And that is, that Islam is a threat to Europe and to the world."

It was not clear whether prosecutors would appeal the ruling. If not, and if Breivik sticks to his word not to appeal a prison term, the legal process for one of the darkest chapters in Norwegian history will have come to a close.

Survivors of the attacks and relatives of victims welcomed the ruling.

"I am very relieved and happy about the outcome," said Tore Sinding Bekkedal, who survived the Utoya shooting.

"I believe he is mad, but it is political madness and not psychiatric madness," Bekkedal said. "He is a pathetic and sad little person."

Per Anders Langerod, another shooting survivor, said he would like to visit Breivik in prison "and yell at him for 15 minutes."

"I don't want to hurt him because I have a problem with violence, now more than ever," Langerod told the AP. "But I want to yell at him. I want to explain to him what kind of egomaniac mass murderer he is and how he has affected so many people so terribly."

Wearing a dark suit and sporting a thin beard, Breivik smirked as he walked into the courtroom to hear his sentence, and raised a clenched-fist salute.

Breivik confessed to the attacks during the trial, describing in gruesome detail how he detonated a car bomb at the government headquarters in Oslo and then opened fire at the annual summer camp of the governing Labor Party's youth wing. Eight people were killed and more than 200 injured by the explosion. Sixty-nine people, most of them teenagers, were killed in the shooting spree on Utoya island. The youngest victim was 14.

In testimony that stunned relatives of his victims, Breivik said he was acting in defense of Norway by targeting the left-wing political party he accused of betraying the country with liberal immigration policies.

Breivik's lawyers say he is already at work writing sequels to the 1,500-page manifesto he released on the Internet before the attacks. Breivik most likely will be sent back to Ila Prison, where he has been held in pretrial detention. He has access to a computer there but no Internet connection. He can communicate with the outside world through mail, which is checked by prison staff.

They can stop mail encouraging illegal acts or the creation of criminal networks, Ila Prison spokeswoman Ellen Bjercke said.

The impact of Breivik's violence has been huge. It has forced Norway to accept that terror doesn't come only in the guise of foreign fundamentalists, but can come from one of their own. The son of a Norwegian diplomat and a nurse who divorced when he was a child, Breivik had been a law-abiding citizen until the attacks, except for a brief spell of spray-painting graffiti during his youth.

The judges noted that Breivik's extreme anti-immigration views are shared by others, but said it found no evidence that the modern-day crusader network that Breivik claims to belong exists.

Norwegian police and government ministers have faced severe criticism for their actions before and during the attacks. The police response was marred by poor communication and technical mishaps. It took police more than an hour to reach Utoya, as a boat carrying the SWAT team was overloaded and stalled in the middle of the lake. Norway's only police helicopter wasn't used because its crew was on vacation.

Norway's justice minister and police chief both resigned in the aftermath and some critics have called on the prime minister to step down.

The judges took turns reading sections of the 90-page ruling, starting with the verdict and sentence, and then going over a chronology of the rampage, victim by victim, and describing their injuries.

Judge Arne Lyng noted that the fertilizer bomb that Breivik set off outside the government headquarters could have been even more devastating.

"It was pure luck that not many more were killed," Lyng said.

Since his guilt was not in question, Breivik's sanity was the key issue to be decided by the trial, with two psychiatric teams reaching opposite conclusions. One gave Breivik a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, a severe mental illness that would preclude imprisonment, while the other found him narcissistic and dissocial - having a complete disregard for others - but criminally sane.

The court criticized the psychiatric assessment that found Breivik insane, saying his perception of being a commander in a civil war can be explained in the context of a "fanatic and right-wing extremist view of the world" rather than as delusions of a sick mind.

It also found his controlled behavior while planning and carrying out his complex plot "difficult to reconcile with an untreated form of paranoid schizophrenia."
