Heavy snow is falling Monday and causing traffic problems all over the state.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is reporting difficult winter driving conditions in Albuquerque, Silver City, Gallup, Farmington, Chama, Raton, Santa Fe, Taos, Springer and Tucumcari.

A number of accidents have taken place in Albuquerque and the snowfall is said to be especially heavy in the Northeast Heights.

Our Erica Zucco has been out in the weather since snow began falling this morning. She talked with folks out driving in the winter wonderland and found that most people are willing to deal with the conditions, as long as it means more moisture for the area.

APS East Mountain schools are open, but parents can pick their children up early if they wish because of the heavy snow.?

"Definitely, we do need it,? said Barbara Duran of Edgewood. ?We need more of It actually, it's been so dry, it's gonna be a dry summer, we need more, Lord!?

Plows and salt trucks are out working, so the roads are looking pretty clear.

There is, however, some blowing snow and it?s hard to see in front of you ? so use caution if driving.

Stay with KOB for more on the snow throughout the day.
